What is demo file?
Demo file is a game video recorded file which allowes to view a recorded demo of the gameplay. This file has been recorded by using the demo function in the game's console, so it can be watched by the demo function in the game console. The demo file's extention is "*.dm_57", so if i have a demo called "example" the file name will be "example.dm_57"
How to watch the demo?
You need to copy the demo file to the "Demos" subdirectory in "Main" subdirectory which can found in the game source path. By default this is the path "\Program Files\Return To Castle Wolfenstein\Main\demos\" Open this path and and copy the file in. To watch a demo file name "example.dm_57" open the game console and type /demo example
How to make a demo?
First of all you need to download this file: sendspace.com t8s0jn Then just copy that file (named demo.cfg) to your "Main" folder. By default this is the path "\Program Files\Return To Castle Wolfenstein\Main\ Open this path and copy the file in. When you want to record a demo just open the console in rtcw when specing and type: /exec demo Then press F5 to start recording and also F5 to stop recording. You can find your demos in"Demos" subdirectory in "S4andMoD" folder. By default this is the path "\Program Files\Return To Castle Wolfenstein\S4andMoD\Demos\ To watch your demo move it from above path to "\Program Files\Return To Castle Wolfenstein\Main\Demos just like explained in "how to watch the demo" part. Thats all.
If you don't like typing "/exec demo" in console before recording you can add command exec demo (yes, without slash "/") to your "autoexec" file from "Main" folder. You can change a key to start/stop demo as well. There are few more ways to make a demo but this one is the easiest in my opinion.
